When the ambulance arrived, everyone stepped back.
Everyone except the dog.
The man had collapsed on the sidewalk.
Paramedics rushed to help him.
People watched from a distance.
But the dog refused to move.
He stayed right beside his owner.
Even when the paramedics placed the man on the stretcher.
Even when they lifted him into the ambulance.
The dog kept following.
Walking beside the vehicle.
One of the paramedics tried to guide him away.
But the dog sat down directly in front of the ambulance door.
Refusing to leave.
That’s when one of the paramedics noticed something strange.
The dog wasn’t barking.
He wasn’t panicking.
He was just watching the man very carefully.
Almost like he was making sure…
His owner was still breathing.

As the ambulance doors closed, the dog suddenly started running.
Right behind the vehicle.
Neighbors watched in disbelief as the dog followed the ambulance down the street.
One of the paramedics noticed him through the rear window.
“Stop the ambulance,” he said.
When they opened the door again, the dog immediately jumped inside and sat beside the stretcher.
The paramedics looked at each other.
They decided to let him stay.
At the hospital, the dog refused to leave the man’s side.
Hours later, the man finally woke up.
The first thing he saw…
Was his dog lying beside the bed.
The same dog who had refused to let the ambulance leave without him.
