The Dog That Wouldn’t Leave the Grave

The dog had been sitting next to the grave for three days.

No one knew where he came from.

The cemetery workers tried to move him, but every time they did, he ran straight back to the same grave.

Rain poured down that afternoon.
The dog was shaking from the cold but still refused to leave.

People started noticing.

Someone brought him water.
Another person left food.

But the dog didn’t touch it.

He just stared at the gravestone.

Finally, one of the workers walked closer to read the name on it.

That’s when he noticed something strange.

The name on the grave… was the same last name as the dog’s collar.

Just then, an old woman visiting the cemetery suddenly gasped.

Her hands started shaking as she pointed at the dog.

“I don’t believe this…” she whispered.

“That dog belonged to my son.”

The cemetery worker looked at her.

“Your son?”

The woman slowly nodded.

“My son was a police officer.”

She walked closer to the grave, her eyes filling with tears.

“He died two weeks ago during a rescue operation.”

The dog immediately stood up and walked toward her.

Then he gently placed his head on the gravestone.

“That’s Max,” she whispered.

“My son’s partner.”

Max had been a trained rescue dog who worked with her son for six years.

But after the accident, Max disappeared from the police station.

No one knew where he went.

Until now.

The dog had walked miles…

Just to find the man who had been his partner, his friend, his family.

And even after death…

He still refused to leave him.
