Every afternoon after school, a little girl would stop at the same park bench.
She’d place a sandwich on it.
Then she’d walk away.
The next day, she’d do it again.
And again.
For nearly three months.
People noticed.
Some thought she was feeding a stray animal.
Others thought it was a game.
One afternoon, an elderly man finally asked her why.
The girl’s answer broke his heart.
“My dad used to eat lunch here.”
The man looked around.
“But where is he now?”
The little girl stared at the bench.
Then quietly said:
“I don’t know.”
The next morning, for the first time ever, the sandwich was gone.
And sitting in its place was a handwritten note.
When the girl read it, she started crying.
Part 2 is in the comments.
The note read:
“I knew your father. We worked together years ago.
He used to share his lunch with anyone who was hungry.
Last week, I lost my home.
I saw the sandwich, and I was starving.
Your kindness reminded me of your dad.”
The note ended with:
“Wherever he is, I think he’d be proud of you.”
The little girl held the note tightly and smiled through her tears.
The next day, she brought two sandwiches.
