The Harbor Seal Refused Every Fish

Everyone at the harbor loved feeding the friendly seal.

Except today.

The seal ignored every fish.

Instead…

It kept swimming to the same rusty fishing boat.

Back.

And forth.

For nearly an hour.

Tourists laughed.

“Maybe it wants attention.”

Marine rescue volunteer Chris wasn’t convinced.

Healthy seals never waste energy like that.

He watched through binoculars.

Every few minutes…

The seal disappeared beneath the boat.

Then surfaced again.

Looking directly at the dock.

Almost as if it was asking for help.

Chris launched a small inflatable rescue boat.

Diving beneath the fishing vessel, he immediately saw the problem.

A young dolphin had become wrapped in discarded fishing rope beneath the hull while following schools of fish into the harbor.

The seal had repeatedly tried nudging the trapped dolphin free.

Unable to break the rope, it kept returning to the dock where people could see it.

Within minutes, rescuers cut the tangled lines.

The dolphin shot toward open water.

The seal followed for a short distance…

Then quietly returned to the harbor.

Only then did it finally accept the fish people had been offering all morning.
