I Finally Caught What Was Destroying My Crops… And I Couldn’t Pull the Trigger

For weeks, something was destroying my cornfield.

Every morning, more plants were gone.

Not broken.

Not trampled.

Just… missing.

The damage always happened at night.

I set up cameras.

Nothing.

I stayed awake with a flashlight.

Nothing.

Whatever was doing it seemed to disappear before sunrise.

Then one night, I heard rustling near the center of the field.

I grabbed my rifle and ran toward the sound.

But when my flashlight finally revealed the culprit…

I couldn’t pull the trigger.

Part 2 is in the first comment.

Hidden between the rows of corn was a starving doe and her two fawns.

The drought had dried up much of the nearby forest.

There was almost nothing left for them to eat.

Night after night, they had been sneaking into my field to survive.

I should have chased them away.

Instead, I lowered the rifle.

The next morning, I built a feeding area at the edge of my property and filled it with water and hay.

Within days, the deer stopped entering the field.

Every evening, I watched them eat from a distance.

By the end of summer, the fawns had grown strong.

One morning, they were gone.

The field recovered.

But sometimes, just before sunset, I still see those deer standing at the edge of the woods.

As if they’re stopping by to say thank you.
