The Train Suddenly Slowed Down for a Single Bird

Passengers were confused.

The train wasn’t approaching a station.

There was no signal problem.

No obstruction on the tracks.

Yet the driver suddenly slowed to a crawl.

People looked out the windows.

At first, nobody saw anything.

Then one passenger noticed movement ahead.

A large bird.

Standing directly between the rails.

The strange part?

It wasn’t flying away.

Not even when the train approached.

The driver immediately called emergency control.

Because something was very wrong.

The bird was a swan.

Its wing had become entangled in loose fencing wire that had blown onto the tracks.

Every attempt to free itself only tightened the wire further.

Unable to fly, it remained trapped.

Rail workers arrived within minutes.

Traffic was temporarily halted while wildlife rescuers carefully cut away the wire.

The swan fought at first.

Terrified.

Exhausted.

Then suddenly became still.

As if realizing help had arrived.

After treatment, the bird was released beside a nearby lake.

Witnesses later watched it swim toward another swan waiting at the shoreline.

For many passengers, it became the most memorable delay of their lives.
