Passengers were confused.

The bird was a swan.
Its wing had become entangled in loose fencing wire that had blown onto the tracks.
Every attempt to free itself only tightened the wire further.
Unable to fly, it remained trapped.
Rail workers arrived within minutes.
Traffic was temporarily halted while wildlife rescuers carefully cut away the wire.
The swan fought at first.
Terrified.
Exhausted.
Then suddenly became still.
As if realizing help had arrived.
