The music started…
The bride smiled…

Tears filled the bride’s eyes.

As everyone watched in confusion, the bride walked away from the altar and knelt in front of the little girl.
Years earlier, while volunteering at a children’s shelter, she had met Lily—a shy orphan who loved to draw.
Before the bride moved away, Lily had handed her a picture of the two of them together and said, “Promise you’ll never forget me.”
Life happened, and they lost contact.
The little girl had never forgotten.
After years of searching online with the help of her foster family, Lily finally found out where the wedding would be.
The drawing she held was faded and wrinkled from being carried for years.
The bride hugged her tightly and cried.
Instead of continuing the ceremony immediately, she invited Lily to walk with her down the aisle.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
Later, the bride said,
“The happiest part of my wedding wasn’t saying ‘I do.’
It was keeping a promise I should have kept long ago.”
