The staff thought it was coincidence.
Until it happened again.
And again.
Every time someone reached for the same old book…
the library cat jumped onto the shelf.
Sat directly in front of it.
And refused to move.
It ignored every other book.
Every other visitor.
Only that one.
The librarian finally removed the book from the shelf.
The cat immediately followed it.
That’s when they realized…
the cat wasn’t guarding the shelf.
It was guarding the book.

Inside the back cover was an old envelope.
Forgotten for decades.
It contained dozens of handwritten letters.
The library discovered they had been exchanged secretly between two teenagers during the Second World War.
Neither family knew the letters still existed.
The cat had spent years sleeping on that particular shelf because it was warmed by an old heating pipe behind the wall.
Pure coincidence.
But that coincidence led to one of the library’s greatest historical discoveries.
The letters were later donated to the local museum.
The cat, of course, went back to sleeping on its favorite shelf.
