Drivers kept honking.
The tiny deer wouldn’t move.
She stood in the middle of the road…
Shaking.
A police officer slowly approached.
He expected the frightened animal to run away.
Instead…
She took a few steps.
Then stopped.
And looked back at him.
Again.
Almost as if she wanted him to follow.
The officer followed the little deer into the forest.
She led him deeper…
And deeper…
Until she stopped beside a pile of fallen branches.
The officer pushed the branches aside…
Then his heart nearly stopped.

Was the deer’s injured mother.
She had become trapped after a violent storm.
Too weak to stand.
Too exhausted to call for help.
The little deer had waited on the road for hours…
Hoping someone would finally follow her.
Rescuers carefully freed the mother.
Days later…
She walked back into the forest with her baby beside her.
The officer watched them disappear among the trees…
Knowing one small act of kindness had saved two lives.
