Every morning at exactly 9:00 a.m., an old dog walked to the same bus stop.
He sat there quietly.
Watching the road.
People in the neighborhood started noticing him.
Rain.
Cold.
Wind.
It didn’t matter.
The dog was always there.
A woman who lived nearby began bringing him water.
One morning she gently checked his collar.
There was a small metal tag attached.
But it didn’t have a phone number.
It only had two words engraved on it.
“WAIT HERE.”
Confused, she asked one of the older neighbors about the dog.
The man looked at the dog…
And his face slowly changed.
His eyes filled with tears.
“I know that dog,” he whispered.
“He used to come here every morning with his owner.”
The woman looked around.
“Where is the owner now?” she asked.
The old man looked down at the ground.
Then he said something that made everyone silent.
“He passed away last year.”
But the dog was still sitting there.
Still staring down the road.
Still waiting.
Part 2 in comments.
The old man explained everything.
The dog’s owner had taken the same bus every morning for years.
And the dog always walked him to the stop.
Then sat there waiting for him to come home in the afternoon.
Every day.
For nearly ten years.
But after the man passed away…
The dog didn’t understand.
He still walked to the bus stop every morning.
Still waited.
Still watched the road.
Hoping the bus would bring his best friend back.
The neighborhood eventually built a small shelter next to the stop.
So the dog would have a place to stay warm.
But even today…
At exactly 9:00 a.m.
He still walks there.
And waits.
