Every winter, a deer would appear outside the same house.
Always alone.
Always at dawn.
The family thought it was just looking for food.
So they left a few apples near the edge of the yard.
The deer returned the next day.
And the day after that.
Soon, it became a winter tradition.
Whenever snow covered the fields, the deer would show up.
Then one morning, during the coldest winter anyone could remember, the deer didn’t come alone.
It stopped at the edge of the yard and looked toward the house.
Behind it were two tiny fawns, struggling through the deep snow.
The family watched from the window as the mother nudged the little ones forward.
But what happened next made everyone inside the house emotional.
Part 2 is in the comments.
The mother deer carefully led her fawns to the spot where food had been left every winter.
The little ones were weak and hungry.
As they began eating, the mother stepped back and simply watched.
She didn’t touch a single apple.
Not one.
Instead, she stood guard while her babies ate.
The family realized something heartbreaking.
The deer hadn’t been coming for herself all those years.
She had been surviving winter so she could one day bring her young to safety.
From that day on, the family made sure food was always available when the snow came.
And every winter, the deer returned.
Sometimes with her fawns.
Sometimes alone.
But always stopping at the same house.
As if she remembered the kindness that helped her family survive.
