Every year, the farmer harvested every acre.
Except one.
A tiny corner near the edge of the field.
Neighbors joked about it.
Workers asked questions.
Even his family found it strange.
The crops there were healthy.

Yet nobody was allowed near them.
Then one harvest season, a new employee finally walked over to see why.
And immediately understood.

Several weeks earlier, the farmer had discovered a wild duck nesting in that exact spot.
Hidden deep among the crops.
Leaving the nest untouched would cost money.
Harvesting around it would create extra work.
But destroying it was never an option.
So he marked the area and left it alone.
Day after day he checked from a distance.
Waiting.
Protecting.
Eventually the eggs hatched.
One morning, workers arrived to find the duck leading a line of tiny ducklings through the field toward a nearby pond.
Only after the last duckling disappeared did the farmer harvest the remaining crops.
When asked why he went through all the trouble, he shrugged.
Then said:
“The harvest can wait.
Life can’t.”
