Years earlier, the boat’s former captain had rescued the pelican after a storm left it injured.
During its recovery, he fed it from that same seat every morning.
The captain later retired.
The bird kept returning.
Not for food.
The young fisherman never offered any.
It simply landed, looked around the boat for a few minutes, then quietly left.
Eventually, the crew placed a small wooden perch on the seat.
The pelican still visits every dawn.
