Nobody believed the children.

Behind the hedge was an overgrown orchard.
The rabbit had dug its burrow beneath an old apple tree.
For months, children had unknowingly dropped apple slices during lunch break.
The bell became the rabbit’s signal that the playground would soon be empty.
Only then did it cross safely to gather the fruit.
After learning this, the school created a quiet wildlife corner away from the playground.
The rabbit continued visiting.
Just not in the middle anymore.
