Everyone thought the truck was going to fall.
Including the driver.
At 2:17 a.m., Mark Dawson was driving through a mountain pass during a storm when his brakes suddenly failed.
Rain blurred the windshield.
Fog hid the road.
And a thousand-foot drop waited just beyond the guardrail.
The truck kept gaining speed.
Then his phone rang.
It was his daughter.
The daughter who hadn’t spoken to him in three years.
Mark answered.
What she said brought tears to his eyes.
For a split second, he looked away from the road.
