For three nights in a row, I found the same spider in my bedroom.
Every time, it was sitting in the exact same spot above my bed.
I tried moving it outside.
The next morning, it was back.
I checked the windows.
Closed.
I checked the vents.
Nothing.
By the fourth night, I was annoyed.
I grabbed a tissue and climbed onto a chair to get rid of it.
But just before I did, I noticed something strange.
The spider wasn’t looking at me.
It was staring at the wall behind my bed.
That’s when I heard a faint scratching sound.
Part 2 is in the first comment.
The scratching grew louder each night.
Eventually, I moved the bed and inspected the wall.
Behind a loose panel, I discovered a small opening.
Inside was a nest of mice.
The spider hadn’t been returning to my room because of me.
It had been feeding on the insects gathering around the nest.
The pest control technician later told me the infestation would have spread throughout the house within weeks.
Instead, it was discovered early.
The mice were removed, the wall was repaired, and the problem was solved.
As for the spider?
I carried it outside one last time.
But this time, I thanked it first.
Because the tiny creature I wanted gone may have saved me thousands of dollars in damage.
