Every morning, the same orange cat showed up on my porch.
And every morning, it left a leaf at my front door.
Not a toy.
Not food.
Just a single leaf.
At first, I thought it was random.

But after two weeks, I realized something strange.
The cat always brought the exact same type of leaf.
And it always arrived at the same time.
One morning, I decided to follow it.
What I discovered explained everything.
Part 2 in the comments.
The cat led me through several streets and into a nearby park.
It stopped beneath a large tree.
The ground underneath was covered with the same leaves it had been leaving on my porch.
Then I noticed a small plaque near the tree.
It was dedicated to a woman who had passed away years earlier.
A man sitting on a nearby bench noticed my confusion.
He smiled and explained.
The orange cat had belonged to the woman.
She used to sit beneath that tree every afternoon and feed it.
After she passed away, the cat kept returning to the spot every day.
No one knows why it started bringing leaves to my house.
But my porch happened to be on the route between the cat’s favorite places.
From that day on, I started leaving fresh water for it.
The cat still visits sometimes.
And every now and then, it still leaves a leaf by the door.
Almost like it’s saying hello.
