Every evening…
A lone elephant walked to the same riverbank.
He never joined the herd.
Never ate with the others.
He just stood there…
Completely still.
Staring at the water.
Park rangers thought it was strange.
Until they noticed something.
He always stopped at the exact same spot.
Then one day…
The river dropped lower than usual after a long drought.
And the elephant suddenly became restless.
He started digging in the mud…
Frantically.
Like he was searching for something that had been lost for years.
The rangers rushed closer…
And what they uncovered made them go silent.

Buried in the dry riverbank…
Was a small, old metal collar.
And fragments of bones nearby.
It belonged to a baby elephant.
The herd had lost it years ago during a flood.
This elephant had never forgotten.
He kept returning…
To the place where he last saw his family.
The rangers stood in silence as he gently touched the soil with his trunk.
Not in anger…
But in memory.
From that day on…
He no longer came alone.
The herd stayed with him by the river.
❤️ Some memories don’t fade… even in the wild.
