The Little Girl Kept Waving at the Same Apartment Window Every Day
Every afternoon after school, the little girl stopped on the sidewalk outside an old apartment building.
And waved.
Always at the same window.
People noticed.
Residents noticed.
Even the mailman noticed.
Because nobody ever waved back.
Still…
she returned every day.
Rain.
Snow.
Cold.
Didn’t matter.
One afternoon, the building manager finally walked outside and asked:
“Sweetheart, who are you waving to?”
The girl pointed toward the fourth floor.
And smiled.
“My best friend.”
The manager felt confused.
Because apartment 4B had been empty for months.

The manager gently explained that nobody lived there anymore.
The little girl simply smiled.
Then told him about Mrs. Evelyn.
An elderly woman who used to sit by the window every afternoon while the girl walked home from school.
They never met properly.
Never shared a meal.
Never even learned much about each other.
But every day they waved.
For years.
Then one day, the waving stopped.
The girl later learned Mrs. Evelyn had moved into assisted living after becoming seriously ill.
But she kept waving anyway.
Just in case.
The manager was deeply moved by the story.
A few weeks later, he tracked down Mrs. Evelyn through relatives.
He showed her a photo of the little girl.
The elderly woman immediately burst into tears.
Because she had been asking about “the girl who waved” ever since she left.
The following weekend, they finally met.
And hugged like lifelong friends.
Even though they had spent years communicating with nothing more than a wave.
