The Locked Mailbox

For 15 years…

An elderly mailman delivered one letter every Monday…

To the same locked mailbox.

No one ever opened it.

Then one morning…

A young woman appeared.

She held up a tiny brass key.

“I think these letters are for me.”

The mailman couldn’t believe his eyes.

Walter had followed the same route every Monday for fifteen years.

One mailbox was different.

Its owner had passed away long ago, yet letters kept arriving from a law office with instructions to deliver one every week.

No one ever claimed them.

Until a young woman appeared with an old brass key.

“My grandfather told my mother to give me this when I turned twenty-one.”

Walter unlocked the mailbox.

Inside were hundreds of unopened letters.

Each one was written by her grandfather before he died.

One for every week of her childhood.

Advice.

Encouragement.

Birthday wishes.

And reminders that she was deeply loved.

Walter smiled as he delivered the final letter.

His longest route had finally reached its destination.
