For three days after the funeral, the Belgian Malinois refused to eat.
He just lay beside the soldier’s grave in complete silence.
Rain soaked his fur.
Crowds came and went.
But the dog never moved.
Soldiers tried everything.
Food.
Commands.
Even his favorite toy.
Nothing worked.
The Malinois only kept staring at the fresh dirt where his handler had been buried.
Some people started crying just watching him.
Because the dog had served beside Sergeant Elias for nearly five years in war zones nobody wanted to talk about.
