The Dog Refused to Cross the Bridge

For six hours, the dog stood at the edge of the bridge.

Cars slowed down.

Cyclists stopped.

People tried helping.

Nothing worked.

The dog wasn’t injured.

Wasn’t aggressive.

Yet every time someone approached…

he backed away.

Only to return to the exact same spot.

Staring through the railing.

Whining softly.

Hour after hour.

Then an elderly fisherman walking underneath the bridge looked up.

And immediately started screaming for help.

Several meters below the bridge, trapped on a narrow concrete ledge beside the river, was a tiny puppy.

Wet.

Shivering.

And unable to climb back up.

Nobody knew how it got there.

The adult dog wasn’t its mother.

Not even from the same breed.

But witnesses later said the stray had been running back and forth across the bridge all morning.

Trying to get people’s attention.

Trying to make someone look down.

Firefighters eventually lowered a rescuer with ropes.

The puppy was safely brought back up.

The moment it touched the ground, the stray dog ran toward it.

Sniffed it.

Licked its face.

Then quietly lay beside it.

As if his mission was finally over.

The two dogs were later adopted together.

Nobody knows where they met.

Only that one refused to leave the other behind.
